Just when I was set to write in my mom

So . . . Governor Sarah Palin. Don’t laugh or anything, but I like her. I like the idea of her. I like her politics, her speech, and her standing up to the powers that be. I’m one of those conservatives who was going to write in a candidate rather than vote for McCain. (Reagan 2008! Death is No Excuse!) Not anymore. McCain picked well.

About the “inexperienced’ argument: Hah! I’d put Palin’s experience governing against Obama’s any day of the week. What she lacks, and Obama has in abundance, is extensive publicity experience. She hasn’t written any books about herself. She hasn’t perfected the “coin pose.” (@ 5:30ish) She hasn’t given a speech in front of 200,000 adoring Germans. She did give a dang good speech without a teleprompter. I have faith she can pick up the rest. Except, please God, the coin pose. That’s just obnoxious.

Yes, I’m biased. I’m a pro-life, small government, big family having woman. I’ve liked her every since I first heard of her last spring. I had dreams of Palin/Jindal (or Jindal/Palin) 2012. (Still do, actually.) I’m probably predisposed to like her.

I’m not sure why so many on the left and in the media are predisposed to hate, belittle and dismiss her. Listen as NPR’s Linda Wertheimer called Palin “very, very young but also very, very pretty.” (It’s 56 minutes in on the link.) Apparently the difference between Obama’s 48 and Palin’s 44 is monumental. McCain’s too old, Palin’s too young. When the different disease lesions involve in the bladder region and who very often suffer from nerve damage that in cheap viagra turn results into erectile dysfunction. They just can’t win.

Then there was the crazy pregnancy conspiracies (which I won’t link to–google it if your interested in filth), that were finally quelched by the real pregnancy story. The Palin’s 17 year old daughter is five months pregnant and planning to marry her boyfriend. OH NO, a teenager made bad decisions and is pregnant and O THE HYPOCRISY! (Because why, exactly, I’m not sure.) I do know that I now want to move to their hometown, except it’s in Alaska and that’s too dang cold. People knew about Bristol’s pregnancy and had the decency to treat it as the family matter that it is. As someone who has been a teenager and remembers too well all the stupidity that entails, my heart goes out to Bristol. As a pro-lifer, I applaud her decision for life and her family for supporting her through what will be a challenging time. But other than my prayers and best wishes, this is really none of my business.

But wait! There’s more! What in the world is this mother doing working? Bad mother! If they weren’t so damned earnest, it’d be funny. Wait, no. It is funny. Please, keep up this bad working mom meme. I’m sure it will turn out very well for you.

But ooh, ooh Troopergate! Really? We want to make a big deal out of the fact that the Governor’s security and staff were concerned that a man who threatened to shoot Gov. Palin’s father and did taser a 11 year old boy is a state trooper? Okay, have fun with that. Here’s a collection and analysis of documents that explains the events and the timeline. If this is all they’ve got for “scandal,” I’m not all that concerned.

I like Palin because I agree with her politics. I like that she beat the political odds and beat the party machine and she stood up against corruption. She’s a maverick, if you will. She’s pro-life in word and deed. And yeah, she’s real and relatable and photogenic and personable. If you think those things don’t matter in politics, you’re naive.

I think we’re in for a very interesting couple of months. I also think Sarah Palin is going to be the best campaigners we’ve yet seen this cycle–without an adoring media fan club to prop her up. This was the Democrats race to lose, which they seemed to be okay with. (Biden? Seriously?) Now I think McCain /Palin could win. And I’m okay with that.

You know the democrats and liberals complain so much about conservatives and how they are so hateful and blah blah blah – well I have been disgusted by all the liberal comments I have been reading on various sites….they are full of horrible language, hateful speech, and just plain old mean-ness towards Sarah and her family. They speak of choice – but really there is only one choice for them…

No matter what we teach/train/hope for our children whether we are liberal or conservative, our kids are individuals and will make their own decisions.
