Do I get a do-over?

General rule of my homeschooling: 30 minutes of preparation the night before saves two hours (or more) the next morning. But I was fiddling with a photo card and gift for the Bulldozer’s speech therapist and making a cake for MTG’s work and didn’t get around to it. That’s one.

We are generally pretty picky about our coffee. We don’t buy coffee out alot, but we do like to brew decent stuff. But I was tempted by this huge bag of an unfamiliar brand at Costco and thought, “Hey, I’ll give it a shot.” And by huge, I mean 2 1/2 pounds. The coffee is not good. It’s not cheap diner bad, but the thought of a month of this is daunting. That’s two.

Mornings are a little hectic around here. The boys hit the ground running (and throwing and laughing and sometimes fighting), so all my activities are punctuated with untangling boys and “encouraging” (that’s mom for yelling) the girls to get dressed and make their beds. The long and the short of it is I forgot the vanilla. It didn’t ruin the bread, but I now know the importance of vanilla. (I also overfilled the bread pans, so there’s the ugly factor, too. That’s three.

Three strikes: am I out?

Three silly mistakes: when will I outgrow this stage?

Three lessons: a little organization goes a long way, cheap is not always worth it, pay attention to the task at hand.

Vanilla or no vanilla, the bread was yummy! & cute too:-) No ugly factor here! We enjoyed some on our road trip today and plan to have it for breakfast tomorrow.

    Thanks!

I’m glad you liked it! It definitely wasn’t the worst of my distracted cooking mistakes. In college a friend and I made cookies with 1 cup of sea salt instead of sugar. It was an honest mistake: Who puts salt in a huge container on the counter and doesn’t put out sugar?

It was 75 today. Not to rub it in.
