Have I abandoned the blog? Hmmmmm . . .

I don’t think so.

Have I given up commentary on life, the universe and everything? Well . . .

Probably not.

Is everything okay?

Yeah, sure.

This is what I’m thinking. World events? Complex and nuanced. Politics? Frustrating theater and self-protecting power grabbing while the world gets more dangerous and more people are struggling and hurting. It seems things are far more weighty than is appropriate for my usual flippant snark. But there have been things I’ve wanted to blog about, with caveats to the complexities, with or without snark.

Complexities in life, in my head, in my heart. I got questions, alright. But I’m gonna blog again and start working through some of my questions.

There is this one questions that has been bumping around in my noggin for quite some time:

Why do so many people seem unconcerned (or, at most, only mildly troubled) about surrendering control over so many areas of their lives to perfect strangers?

And not just any strangers, but strangers wrapped in bureaucracy. Strangers wrapped in bureaucracy, hundreds of miles removed. Strangers wrapped in bureaucracy, hundreds of miles away, who know little about the people they regulate and care less. Strangers wrapped in bureaucracy, hundreds of miles away, who know little about the people they regulate and care less–who are unelected, unaccountable and pretty much unfire-able. Why is that?

In fact, that one question could keep me occupied for quite some time.

I've missed you! And I can't *wait* to see how you answer that one question. I myself have some answers for it too, and I suspect yours and mine are wildly different, but I love the way you think.

    Welcome back!

From the Declaration: "all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
