Terrible Tuesday: Summer Edition

Ah, the lazy hazy days of summer. Hey! My days aren’t lazy! I demand a refund!  Alas, one more week before I can become an official summer bum. This week we have Girl Scout Twilight Camp, which is a lot of fun, but also tons of work and exhausting.

So bunch of  links before I begin figuring  out which end is up? Sure! Why not!

25 years ago today, President Reagan gave his most famous (and most important?) speech.  23 years after the Wall fell, we forget how bold that speech was, and the ripples of the impact are still being felt. (Thanks to @dwayne_63 for that link.)  Bonus Reagan link, a letter to his son on his wedding.

Mostly Geeky is … mostly geeky. And tons of fun! Like this infographic on the Evolution of the Geek.

Some dental advice, just because I like being random.

A mini-plethora (hush! It is a thing!) of links on the Bloomberg stupidity and related nanny-state nonsense.

Looking for some light reading this summer? The 10 books that shaped C.S. Lewis.

More (FREE!) digital and audio books.  Although, I disagree with the unqualified tag “books should be free.” Isn’t that the same as saying authors should be unpaid? Nope, I don’t agree with that at all. Still, tons of books in the public domain are available.  I haven’t listened to the audio books yet, so no idea on the quality of volunteer readers.

After I come out of my AAAAAUUUUGGGGHHH coma, I may do this cute project with the kids this summer.

A little something for the homeschoolers. If we can’t laugh at ourselves, we’re doing life wrong.

And a giggle for the day.  Go forth and do… something.

Thanks for the link to my C.S. Lewis book list! I’m nine chapters (our of twelve) in to Sarah Ruden’s translation of Vergil’s Aeneid. I’m having a hard time putting it down, and yesterday found myself reading aloud on the city bus home from work, with the Isengard theme as background in my head. Hope the rest of his list is as good!

You’re welcome! I love that all these are most likely available for free on ereaders. A little light reading for summer!
